The POMS for EPL is turn-key project for system study, software development and customization and implementation is at Ennore Port Office at Chennai. NIC has developed fully integrated web-based application software package for Ennore Port Limited (EPL) comprising of On-line activities of its operational departments namely Marine, Traffic and Finance departments. It is also tightly integrated with Port Community System (PCS) including Customs-Port EDI system.

POMS at EPL comprises of Three-tier web-enable environments with Oracle Database system. At the middle tier WebSphere Application Servers and Crystal Clear plus Servers have been used for deployment of Java-based web applications and reports respectively. The primary server is also replicated to a Disaster Recovery System located at EPL Corporate Office 30 kms apart from the Operational Office.

Impact of the project:

Ennore being one of the youngest ports in the eastern sea coast has still been virgin so far as implementation of enterprise ICT based operations are concerned. It has been possible for EPL to jump start and be in line with the main stream PCS driven services. EPL is a modern landlord port has very limited manpower. A landlord port with very limited but efficient manpower EPL has been able to improve the quality of services in terms of delivery time, correctness of information with increased business transactions.
